What should I eat when trying to get pregnant

As a fertility doc, one of the most common questions I get asked by patients is Dr. A. what can I eat that can make me more fertile? Is there a fertility super food or supplement I can take that can make me more fertile?

As a fertility doctor, one of the most common questions I get asked by patients is Dr. A. what can I eat that can make me more fertile? Is there a fertility super food or supplement I can take that can make me more fertile?  While I would like to give you this information of what foods or supplements to take that would make you super fertile, the truth is unfortunately there is no superfood or fertility supplement that would make you more fertile.
Nonetheless there are foods that could prepare your body for pregnancy and help support pregnancy.

Whole grains:

Rice, oatmeal

Food rich in Omega-3’s:

Plant Oils—canola oil
Fish—salmon, tuna

Foods rich in Vitamin B6:

Bananas
Sunflower seeds
Avocado

Food rich in Zinc (especially good for sperm):

Beans
Foods rich in Folate
Lentils
Asparagus
Spinach
Cantaloupe

Also, especially important is to take a prenatal vitamin that has at least 400mcg of folic acid.
Bottom line:  Eat as healthy as possible to help prepare your body for pregnancy!!!
