Intrauterine Insemination

HOW WE HELP

At Hope Fertility, intrauterine insemination is performed using washed sperm. Our trained laboratory technician washes each sperm sample to ensure the best outcome. A semen analysis is performed for each sample and reviewed with the patient to determine the quality of the sperm prior to the IUI.
What is Intrauterine Insemination?
Intrauterine insemination also known as IUI is a procedure that places sperm into a woman’s uterus around the time of ovulation.

It is often used in combination with fertility drugs or shots to help increase the chance of pregnancy. The IUI procedure consists of injecting washed sperm into a woman’s uterus by use of a catheter.

Reasons for IUI include:

  • Unexplained infertility
  • Cervical abnormalities
  • Problems with sperm numbers or delivery
  • Lack of ovulation
  • Donor insemination
